~ specific for practitioners in the wellness/healthcare profession : fitness, healing arts, western medical, deathcare, and mental health practitioners, etc. ~

:WORKSHOP DETAILS:

To recognize and commit to the necessity of anti-racist values requires a deeper investigation into our own, often unconsciously held, racial/cultural biases. This is not only essential for reducing the harm so often incurred by minoritized communities, but also serves to position practitioners responsibly within their traditions – which often have non-European/American origins. Too often there is great disconnect between the intention to “help” or “be of service”, and the impact on those we aim to serve.

This anti-racism training is a brave, personal journey, held within the support of a grounded community of dedicated peers and sincere practitioners. Each week we will focus on building an internal toolkit to foster external change. We will do this by examining existing racial training (the messages/conditioning we have received and continue to receive regarding race in America). Furthermore, we will address how this training directly effects how we interact across difference.

Ultimately this work is to uncover yourself as an authentic, non-performative, anti-racist practitioner ~ and we don’t stop there ~ this transformative work is purposeful and done in order to actively reduce harm and ensure more equitable healing spaces, health access and therapies for the thriving of all people.

Our work in medicine, wellness, health, and the business of thriving can no longer exclude anti-racist work and must stay true to what is inherent within the healing/medical traditions we practice ~ radical respect, radical collaboration, and radical inclusivity. It is time to bring forward what has been alive within the traditions, but sleeping within the wellness and medical industries. To do this we must identify, address and heal the root of dis-ease or disharmony that creates and perpetuates racism and discrimination within our field, ourselves and beyond.
